TR fire the first warning shot

When it comes to the main 112km event at the 2018 Sydney Bridge to Bridge, Ian Tricker will have his eyes set on being the fastest of five Superclass entries to race from Dangar Island to Governor Phillip Park, and in turn claim his first outright victory at the event.
But before tomorrow’s main show takes centre stage, there was plenty of racing today between Windsor and Sackville, and Tricker was a chief protagonist during the morning session.
Contesting the Veterans class, Tricker and his TR team of Nathan Miller (observer), Jamie Oliver and Daniel Campbell (skiers) were the fastest on the water to finish their run from Sackville to Windsor in 9 minutes and 55 seconds.
Finishing in second place was Long Gonewith Mark Wolfswinkel (driver), Bradley Jarman (observer), Michael Hall and Daniel Cotton (skiers). Come the main event, Cotton will again face off with Tricker in the Superclass event. Finishing third in veterans was the Supernova team.
Both Tricker and Cotton described windy conditions from the morning session.
“This morning conditions were ok, a little bit gusty on a few straights. The current was coming in. But having a little local knowledge helped. It’s just a bit blowy, that’s all. Having said that, we still came in under 10mins, so that was nice,” Tricker said.
“The conditions on the water were pretty good. A couple of the straights were a bit rattly, but all in all it was pretty good water,” Cotton added.
Raicey won the Under 16 Boy’s Social with Steven Raicevich at the wheel, Mark Holmes observing, Kyle Andrews and Korey Galley on the skis. The Agent was also on the water in the Under 16 Girl’s event, Luke McKay (driver), Tony Campbell (observer), Ellie McKay and Violet Campbell (skiers) made up that team.
Rounding out the morning session was the Under 10’s 1UP class with Team 26 finishing top of the charts. Brandon Cropper was at the wheel, with five-time outright Sydney Bridge to Bridge winner Danny Cropper in the observer’s seat. They guided Patrick Valencour to the finish.
Coming in second was Kidstuff(Jason Walsh, Jonathon Cooper and Bailey Cooper), while Split Decision (Christopher Gibson, Russell Cicognani and Declan Cicognani) was home third.
At the time of writing, the Top End Social event was in action. A report and results will be available later today.
